UTI Mutual Fund October 2026 Fixed Income The UTI fixed income October 2026 webinar: UTI was more constructive on the 2–4-year part of the curve, with current yields viewed as attractive and possible mark-to-market gains if the RBI hiked less than markets expected — not an assured outcome. UTI fixed income October 2026: the 2–4-year segment call This month’s UTI fixed income October 2026 webinar comes from Anurag Mittal, Head of Fixed Income at UTI Mutual Fund. Read alongside the DSP Netra October edition and the Motilal Oswal October Dear Investor note. REPO RATE 5.50% · Up 25 bps RBI STANCE Calibrated Tightening PREFERRED SEGMENT 2–4 Year YIELD CURVE Started Flattening Speaker’s overall view The UTI fixed income October 2026 view: UTI was more constructive on the 2–4-year part of the curve. Current yields were viewed as attractive, with possible mark-to-market gains if RBI hiked less than markets expected — not an assured outcome. The detail Global developments Strong global growth, higher oil/shipping costs and El Niño-related food inflation concerns contributed to rising bond yields. The US Fed had begun hiking rates; the speaker discussed the possibility of further hikes, with the extent dependent on inflation and growth. Selected US–China tariff reductions could weaken the relative advantage of the ‘China-plus-one’ trade strategy. RBI policy & India macro RBI raised the repo rate 25 bps to 5.50% and changed its stance from neutral to ‘calibrated tightening’. The speaker described the hike as insurance against rising inflation expectations; the stance did not necessarily imply aggressive tightening. The speaker discussed the need to absorb excess liquidity so overnight rates remain aligned with the repo rate and rate hikes transmit effectively. Indian growth and credit indicators remained resilient. Slower government capital spending could weigh on second-half growth; weak monsoon/reservoir levels raised food-inflation risks, while moderate rabi MSP increases were not expected to materially lift inflation. Electronics had become India’s second-largest trade-deficit category after oil, according to the presentation. Bond market & UTI’s view The sovereign yield curve had started flattening as shorter-tenor yields rose more than the long end. UTI felt expected RBI hikes were already substantially reflected in bond yields, improving the risk–reward. UTI preferred the 2–4-year maturity segment. The speaker noted investors could benefit from mark-to-market gains if RBI hiked less than markets expected, but this was a possibility. What this means for investors Investment horizon Strategies discussed by the speaker, by horizon: 3–12 months — Money market / low-duration strategies. More than 12 months — Short-term or corporate bond strategies. Beyond 2 years — Income-plus-arbitrage for potentially better tax-efficient outcomes.
